How Much Solar Do I Need for My Home in Peshawar?
Choosing the right size is the most important decision when going solar. Too small and it won't cover your needs; too big and you overpay. Here's how to size a system simply for Peshawar conditions.
Start with your electricity bill
Look at the monthly units (kWh) on your PESCO bill — take an average of your summer months, since that's when you use the most. Divide by 30 to get your daily usage.
The quick rule
In Peshawar, every 1 kW of solar panels generates roughly 4 units per day on average (about 5 peak sun hours with normal losses). So:
• 300 units/month (~10 a day) → about 2.5–3 kW
• 500 units/month (~17 a day) → about 4–5 kW
• 900 units/month (~30 a day) → about 7–8 kW
• 1500 units/month (~50 a day) → about 12–13 kW
Add for air conditioning
Each inverter AC adds roughly 1.5–2 kW to your peak load. If you run ACs during the day, size up so the system can handle them.
Do you need battery backup?
If you want power during load-shedding, you need a Hybrid system with batteries, sized by how many backup hours you want for your essential load (fans, lights, fridge). If you only want to cut your bill, an On-Grid system with net metering is cheaper.
